First Destination Survey - Class of 2011 report

CEU First Destination Survey 2011 - Off To a Great Start: career paths six months after graduation

Launched for the first time in 2007, the First Destination Survey is part of our commitment to assessing our students’ career path after graduation and their overall satisfaction with our services.

Students who graduated in 2011 were invited to share their "life after CEU" experience take the CEU First Destination Survey 2011! 156 respondents accepted our invitation, so we were proud to learn from them that:

- an encouraging 78.2% of respondents were either employed (55.8%) or continued their studies (22.4%) by December 2011

- Out of those who reported employment, 69,9% (almost 5% more than previous year) were employed either prior to graduation or within less than 2 months after graduation.

- Half of the respondents accepted a job offer after sending out a maximum of 5 CVs and having had fewer than 3 job interviews

- 72% of fresh graduates declare that the CEU qualification was an advantage while securing a job (in 11% of the cases, CEU degree was a formal requirement)

- Out of those enrolled in an academic program, 35.3% continue their studies in the Humanities, 52.9% in the Social Sciences, followed by 11.7% in various other academic fields

-79,4% of the graduates continuing studies declare that CEU prepared them very well in comparison to their current classmates (only 17,6% perceived it as average education)

- 51.9% of respondents submitted a resume for the CEU Resume Book (12% more than previous year) and 25,7% of them were directly contacted by employers, who had found their profiles in the book (the number of those contacted increased by 15,7%)

- 50% of graduates found useful contacts for career networking.  23,2% of the respondents have been hired for an internship/part-time job/project-work, other 50% applied to an internship/part-time job/project-work or another career related program as a direct result of the career services (information, resources, personal consultations, website, events)
